Prof. Dr. Bahattin Çeliköz

He was born in Elazığ in 1955. After completing his primary, secondary, and high school education, he began his studies at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine in 1976. In the same year, he passed the Military Student Examination of the Turkish Armed Forces and continued his medical education as a military student. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1981 with the rank of Medical Lieutenant.
In 1982, he worked as an intern doctor at GATA (Gülhane Military Medical Academy). Between 1982 and 1985, he completed his military service in Samsun. In 1984, he attended a one-year English language course at the İzmir Air Force Language School.
In 1985, he started working as a resident at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at GATA. In 1987, he was awarded the American IMET (International Military Education and Training) applied medical scholarship and spent three months in Wiesbaden, Germany, at the USA Amelia Earhart Medical Center, where he worked and received practical training in the Plastic Surgery Clinic and the Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic.
In 1989, during the final year of his residency, he received a one-year training scholarship from the Government of South Korea and worked in Seoul, South Korea, at the INJE University Faculty of Medicine, Plastic, Reconstructive, Craniofacial, Aesthetic and Microsurgery Center. There, he worked with Prof. Dr. Se Min Baek and his team on orthognathic surgery, craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and aesthetic surgery.
In 1991, he became a specialist in plastic surgery and was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the same year. In 1996, he spent one year in the United States, in the state of California, at the Irvine Medical Center and Medical School, Plastic and Reconstructive and Burn Surgery Clinic, where he worked on burn treatment, plastic surgery, and aesthetic surgery. During the same period, he conducted various clinical and experimental studies and research at the Beckman Laser Institute on the use of lasers in vascular lesions and other clinical applications, and published scientific papers on these subjects.
In November 1998, he received the title of Associate Professor and began working as a faculty member at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at GATA Ankara. In 2001, he was appointed Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department at GATA Istanbul Haydarpaşa Training Hospital. In 2004, he was promoted to Professor. In 2008, he retired voluntarily and currently practices as a private physician.
Prof. Dr. Bahattin Çeliköz is a member of several national professional organizations, including the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (TPRCD), the Microsurgery Society, the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Society (EPCD), and the Hand Surgery Society. Internationally, he is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPRS), the American Burn Association (ABA), and the European Society for Laser Aesthetic Surgery (ESLAS). He is married, has two children, and speaks English.
