Eyelid Aesthetics (Blepharoplasty)
Eyelid surgery is a procedure performed to give the lower eyelids, upper eyelids, and the surrounding eye area a more aesthetic and youthful appearance.
It is carried out to correct age-related deformities that negatively affect the eyelids.
For mild problems, non-surgical treatment options are preferred.
The procedure is most commonly performed on individuals between the ages of 45 and 65 and provides very long-lasting results. However, since the skin is a living tissue that is easily affected by external factors and gravity, the effects of the surgery may gradually diminish over time.
Even though some sagging or deformation may reappear as years pass, the eyelids never return to their pre-surgery state.
The surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or, when necessary, under general anesthesia.
Both upper and lower eyelids can be operated on simultaneously if needed.
On the day of the procedure, the patient is discharged with their eyes open and small bandages placed over the incision lines.
The following day, the patient returns for a follow-up visit, the dressings are changed, and they can resume normal daily activities.
Most patients comfortably return to their social life within 5–7 days.
As with all surgical procedures, the same rules apply to eyelid surgery as well.
Blood-thinning medications and smoking must be stopped at least 15 days before the operation.
For the surgery to be safely performed, there must not have been any recent procedures performed in the same area.
